Alfa Prime turns the investment committee into software
The multi-model AI 'investment committee' debuts with a small cohort of institutional partners, leaving advisors to wait for the validation that earns client-portfolio trust.
Boosted.ai, which PlanAdviser describes as an agentic AI tool for investment management, says its new multi-model AI 'investment committee' Alfa Prime will initially be available to a small cohort of institutional partners, configured to each organization's investment methodology. The platform evaluates investment ideas from several model perspectives, digesting market, fundamental and research data, flagging candidates for further review, and running additional model-led analysis before presenting findings to users. Rather than a single engine, it runs a panel of models, each looking at the same data through its own frame; the monitoring, research and model-led review feed a presentation meant to help investors identify and research potential opportunities and let the committee flag what a lone model might miss.
That institutional-first rollout suggests the vendor wants the product hardened by endowments and pensions before it gets packaged for advisors. The sequence mirrors the alternatives build-out this publication has covered: advisers' private-market assets nearly doubling — Cerulli projects a $2 trillion increase — and much of the interval-fund wave reaching RIAs only after institutions set the liquidity terms.
The timing also lands against a backdrop this publication has tracked — heavy AI users report gains that lighter users are missing — which makes Alfa Prime a bet that the gap favors the advisor who runs the multi-model review over the advisor who trusts a single tool.
In the same PlanAdviser round-up, iPipeline launched its Novera API Hub with 'headless annuities,' allowing carriers, broker-dealers, insurance marketing organizations and wealth technology providers to embed annuity processing directly into existing platforms via the Affirm execution engine. The capability covers processing, validation and compliance inside a firm's own workflows, a headless structure that treats the annuity as a modular allocation rather than a portal product.
Elsewhere in the round-up, Alliant Insurance Services agreed to acquire Nava Benefits, including its HQ AI platform that the company says handles 81% of member-support inquiries without human intervention, and AdvisorFinder launched an AI tool for tracking adviser visibility in AI-powered search — support functions at the edge of the portfolio desk. The two launches at the center, the AI investment committee and the headless annuity, point the same direction: the portfolio desk's core functions are being rebuilt as software layers.
For advisors, the near-term question is Alfa Prime's institutional validation, since the wealth channel is not in the first cohort — a measure less about whether a model can flag an opportunity than whether the institutional review makes the tool worth trusting in client portfolios.
