XY Planning Network has 110 firms working toward registration, up from 60 at the same point last October. The membership organization reported the figure from its XYPN LIVE event in San Diego. It now counts 2,400 members; 300 practices are SEC-registered and 2,100 are in its Emerald network. The 110 are firms still working toward registration, not firms that have completed it.
Co-founder Alan Moore said by email that XYPN has added more than 370 advisors in 2026, about 9.5 a week. His team's active new registration count has stayed above 90 all year. In prior years, Moore and co-founder Michael Kitces reported bringing on a new RIA at an average of one a day.
Rollup advisors and tech staff join the pipeline
RIABiz reports that the newest XYPN recruits include what it calls unconsulted RIA rollup advisors, along with Google and Amazon staffers looking for a new career. Its headline describes rollups that 'dangle downer contracts' and names Amazon, Google and Fidelity as a second set of factors feeding the boom.
Fidelity has told custody clients under $100 million to move elsewhere by June 2027, with no option to pay a fee and stay, as this publication reported. Kitces called that hard line bizarre, noting past minimum increases let small firms pay to remain.
Six Modern Wealth advisors left as the firm acquired $710 million in assets, this publication reported.
